Hi…
I like the way Arens answered the question on the top of page 79. I like it because he was honest but did not give up information. He did not overstep his bounds with current leadership. He did not endanger the country by saying to much. I respect all of that very much.
I did not know all that stuff they were saying about Turkey. Fist I didn’t know that the US was considered that close to Turkey. I don’t know if I completely agree with that statement. I get though how the political relationships can be so sensitive. NATO vs EU, etc. I think it is difficult for the United States, or anyone for that matter, to play nation builder. They are basically saying because Turkey might get upset by being turned down by the EU they would become radical. I think you can not just let them in because you are scared of what they will become if you do not. I say we have Germany’s back on that even though Turkey is in NATO.
Also I think there are other ways to stop Turkey from becoming radical.
I need to look this up but… I think when they are talking about oil reserves / fields they are talking ones currently in operation. I remember hearing once the US actually has more oil in it boarders that the Middle East. We just do not have it tapped and that takes time to do. I wonder if they know that. If so why would Boykin not say it? I would think he should know because it is so vital to national security. The oil runs all our ships, tanks, etc. We use it fast. 60% seams hi to me but I could be wrong.
On to chapter 8…
I hate the way people cringe at the thought of Israel protecting itself. The top of 83 just reminded me of that a little.
They keep doping repetition! I like that. I feel like this book was written to truly educate. They do it with names. They do it with locations. Good stuff.
WOW I liked the way they describe The Sea of Galilee. It sounds beautiful! Blue and Green!
OK… more tomorrow
